Innoson launched its first “Keke” on May 20, 2022. Kekes are three-wheeled motor vehicles that are the primary mode of transportation in Nigeria.

The 5-seater IVM-branded tricycle, popularly known as ‘Keke napep,’ joins the company’s array of vehicles, which also include the Connect, Caris, G20 Smart, Ikenga, G40, and G80.

So far, Kekes has been imported from the Far East and typically costs around 800,000 Naira or 1,600 Euros. Innoson set a price of 500,000 Naira ($1,000) or 1,000 Euros.

IVM annually produces 60,000 quantities of “Kekes”. This will be increased by a new production factory on a 150,000-square-metre tract of land in Owerri, Imo State.

The domestic production of tricycles in Nigeria is projected to benefit the country’s trade balance and job economy.
