PSC promises merit-based police recruitment

The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Arase, has assured Nigerians of merit-based recruitment into the Nigerian Police Force, in accordance with the Federal Character Commission’s requirement of equal representation. A total of 171,956 successful applicants have been invited to the next stage, which involves a computer-based test scheduled for March 5 and 6, 2024, across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. The commission has promised to ensure that the recruitment exercise remains merit-based throughout its stages, with Arase commending the Police Recruitment Board for their commitment to the national assignment. The statement also highlighted the need for additional manpower in the Police to assist in the fight against crime and criminality, as well as the recovery of ungoverned spaces across the country. Successful applicants are urged to check the recruitment portal for their status and the details of the upcoming tests. Additionally, 43,778 successful applicants from the specialists cadre will undergo practical tests at a later date to be announced by the commission.
