Health informatics (HI) is a relatively new discipline in the Arab world, a much-needed means for improving the quality of service provided to patients in Arab healthcare facilities. Some Arab countries have adopted electronic health systems (EHS), while others are working towards it, and several Arab countries are still far from implementing HI within their health facilities. In addition, HI curricula have been implemented in some Arab countries, and a limited number of universities in the Arab world also offer advanced courses or degrees in HI. The development and implementation of HI in the Arab world is expected to expand and cover more facilities and countries in the coming years.
